Indications for MRI of the brain and orbits
MRI of the brain and eye orbits allows to assess the state of the brain, visual apparatus and optic nerves, the state of blood supply to the structures of the visual system. MRI of the brain is combined with MRI of the orbits with contrast enhancement in the following situations:
- inflammation of the eye and adjacent tissues;
- injuries of the eye, bones of the facial skull and orbit in particular;
>- benign and malignant neoplastic processes
- entry of foreign particles into the eye;
- probable tumor of the eye or retrobulbar space;
- atrophy of the optic nerves and other degenerative diseases ;
- signs of retinal detachment;
- pain, discomfort in the eyes;
- a sharp decrease in visual acuity;
- inflammation of the lacrimal glands, m' what tissues, muscles in the area of the orbit.
